It looks like the Revel & York is the replacement for the Deluxe?!

    They all look nice.

From what CR said at Gamescom, they are doing away with with old tier system for hangars. Everyone who has currently pledged will have the chance to try all of the hangars and then settle on which one they like best.

While they are all improved dramatically, I am still leaning towards the Asteroid for myself. Need a batcave for my ships.

True, but in the first Iteration you get the "fitting replacement" of your old one

So, to get automaticly the Evel & York you have NOW a DELUXE

From how understood it at the event he said you can choose depending on what you have now. Meaning you can get the "fitting replacement" or downscale, but not upscale.

Doesn't the type of hangar you get also dictate (or limit) your starting location in the PU as well?

Yeah, that's someting he mentioned a while later. At that point I was wondering how they think they can merge these two ideas. Everybody with a single ship package would start on the outskirts, that doesn't really make much sense. I guess we'll have to see, I doubt much is decided regarding the new hangar system.

Since they re-did the hangars using their "room" system, he said all hangars would be able to handle all your ships (that are capable of fitting in a hangar).

He did also mention the type of hangar you went with would determine your starting location. Asteroid would start your in an asteroid field, and the others would either be on a planet or station. There will I am sure be a lot of asteroid fields here and there, so I would bet that we will either get to pick which one we want to be in, or it we will have one inside UEE space assigned to us. I seriously doubt that it will by default place us too far apart as corps and orgs would have a LOT of work just to get to each other to team up.

    Just my thoughts

    Agreed, that would be stupid

But the idea is a bit different - as far as i understood it
Everybody can start in a "Luxury-Hangar" but this means the star-point will be deep within civilisation
But the other way around; you can not have this hangar and start in the outskirts
For that - you need to choose a "lower" one

With the new modular hangar system they have it sounds like the biggest difference between the hangar manufacturers is just aesthetic now.  Before, the different hangars were different sizes as well, so a Connie wouldn't really fit in the old basic hangar which is why they were assigned as they were.

My guess, based on what I've read and what CR said at GamesCom, is that you can pick your hangar "look" and starting area no matter what pledge level you are.  But the initial "size" of your hangar (number of rooms and/or actual landing bays) will be determined by how many ships you have (and what ships those are).  So if you only have a single Aurora you'll only start with a single, small landing bay and have to purchase more rooms (and/or more ships) to get a larger hangar.  Whereas people with larger ships and/or more ships will start with more (and/or larger) landing bays without having to buy them.
